Hello, I’m Phan The Anh, a travel blogger. With a passion for exploring new places, I believe Busan is an unmissable destination on your travel list. Specifically, Haeundae Beach is one of the highlights I want to introduce in today’s blog about traveling to Korea.
Where is Busan?
Located in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula, Busan is the second-largest city in South Korea. It is a major port city and an economic and cultural hub.
From Vietnam, you can easily get to Busan by plane. Gimhae International Airport (PUS) is the city’s main gateway, with many airlines operating direct or connecting flights from major Vietnamese cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Busan’s public transportation system is well-developed, including the subway, buses, and taxis, making it easy to get around the city.
- Subway: This is the most popular and efficient way to travel. The subway network covers most of the city, connecting important areas like the airport, Busan Station, and popular tourist spots.
- Bus: The bus system is also very convenient, with extensive routes that can sometimes take you to places the subway doesn’t reach.
Haeundae Beach – The Symbol of Busan Tourism
Haeundae Beach is not only famous among Koreans but is also one of the most visited beaches by international tourists. It attracts visitors with its long, soft white sand, clear blue water, and vibrant atmosphere all year round. Whether you visit Haeundae at any time, you’ll feel its lively and energetic vibe.
The easiest way to get to Haeundae Beach is by subway. Just take Line 2 (Green Line) and get off at Haeundae Station (해운대역). From the station, it’s about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.
In the summer, the beach becomes an open-air entertainment center with thousands of people swimming and participating in water sports. In winter, Haeundae takes on a calmer, more romantic beauty, perfect for those who want to take a stroll and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. The area around Haeundae is also home to many restaurants, cafes, high-end hotels, and bustling shopping districts, making it a perfect destination for every need.
A special feature in Haeundae is the Haeundae Blueline Park. This is a sky rail system that runs along the coast, offering tourists a beautiful panoramic view from above. The line connects Mipo, Cheongsapo, and Songjeong, allowing you to uniquely admire the scenery of Haeundae Beach and its surrounding areas.
Adjacent to Haeundae Beach is Dongbaekseom Island, home to some incredibly romantic and unique attractions.
- Dongbaekseom Lighthouse: This small and charming lighthouse is one of the most popular check-in spots. With its view of the vast blue sea and majestic rocks, it’s an ideal place to take stunning photos.
- Hwangok Mermaid Statue: As you walk on Dongbaekseom Island, you’ll come across the statue of Princess Hwangok, a mermaid sitting on a rock. The statue is tied to the legend of a princess who came here from the Narat Kingdom and is a romantic symbol of the Haeundae coast.
Haeundae on Screen: Famous Movies Filmed Here
With its unique beauty, Haeundae has become the backdrop for many popular Korean films and TV shows. Learning about the movies filmed in Haeundae will help you appreciate this place on a deeper level.
- Haeundae (2009): This famous disaster film brought the beach’s name to a global audience. The realistic and magnificent scenes vividly portrayed the beauty of Haeundae.
- My Sassy Girl (2001): This classic romantic comedy has some memorable scenes in Busan, including young and romantic shots in Haeundae, contributing to the movie’s sweet atmosphere.
- The Spy Gone North (2018): This thrilling spy film also has segments filmed in Haeundae, showing the versatility of this location in creating different settings.
Other Must-Visit Places in Busan
Beyond Haeundae Beach, your Busan travel experience wouldn’t be complete if you missed these other attractive destinations.
- Gamcheon Culture Village: Nicknamed the “Machu Picchu of Busan,” this village stands out with its colorful houses built closely on a hillside. It’s an ideal place for photos and exploring unique street art.
- Haedong Yonggungsa Temple: This Buddhist temple is special because it’s located right on the seashore, offering a rare serene and majestic beauty.
- Jagalchi Fish Market: This is the largest seafood market in Korea, where you can hand-pick fresh seafood and have it cooked on the spot. It’s a paradise for food lovers.
Busan has so much to offer beyond Haeundae, with countless exciting things waiting for you to explore. I hope this information will be a helpful guide for your upcoming trip!
